The chairman and leader of the state is the caliph who carries the mandate and responsibility to carry out government by upholding the truth and plays a very large role in safeguarding and ensuring that the welfare of the Islamic religion and its people is always maintained without ignoring the religious rights of other communities.
This is in accordance with Allah Taala's warning to the Prophet David AS in His words which means:
"O David, indeed We have made you caliph (ruler) on earth, so judge (cases) between people fairly and do not follow your desires because they will lead you astray from the path of Allah. Indeed, those who stray from the path of Allah will suffer a severe punishment because they forgot the day of reckoning."
(Sad : 26)
This is not an easy task that can be undertaken by just anyone. Therefore, Allah SWT has ordered that this leadership mandate should be handed over to individuals who are worthy and capable.
Leadership in Islam is a responsibility imposed on every individual who is appointed and empowered as leader of either the family, society, country and world.
Leadership through example that has been exemplified by Rasulullah SAW in maintaining maqasid sharia during the 10 years of His Majesty's leadership, namely; implementing good and evil, upholding justice, security and creating universal prosperity, needs to be taken into consideration and followed throughout the ages by all world leaders today.
