The Great Sin of Disobedience to Parents

عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَمَ عَنْ الكَبَائِرِ َعَنْ الكَبَائِرِ َعَنْ الإِشَرَّكُ بِلَِِّ وَعْقُوقُ الوَالِدَيْنِ َتْلُ النَّفْسِ وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ

From Anas, may God bless him and grant him peace, he said; The Prophet SAW was asked about major sins. So he said: "Associating God, disobeying parents, killing people and swearing falsely". (HR Bukhari No: 2459) Status: Authentic Hadith

Teaching:
1. A major sin is an offense that is promised a painful punishment if the perpetrator does not repent until God forgives his sin.
2. Among the major sins are shirk to God, disobedience to both parents, murder and perjury
3. Every child must not hurt both parents, either with words, actions or deeds, either directly or indirectly.
4. Disobedience to parents is a very big sin, second only to the sin of polytheism. May we avoid these great sins.
