Funeral Management Assistance Fund

PURPOSE

The purpose of establishing the fund is to:

1. Collect voluntary contributions from UPM staff through monthly salary deductions.

2. Provide bereavement assistance to the dependents of UPM staff in the event of the staff member's passing. 3. To provide bereavement assistance to UPM staff upon the death of a family member (family members are defined in accordance with the UPM Medical Scheme under the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM)).

PURPOSE

2. To provide bereavement assistance to a staff member's dependents upon the death of the staff member.
3. To provide bereavement assistance to UPM staff upon the death of a family member (family members are defined in accordance with the UPM Medical Scheme under the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM)).

CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FUND

Monthly contributions to this fund by Muslim staff:

Support Group staff – minimum RM2.00 per month
Management and Professional Group staff – minimum RM5.00 per month
Staff wishing to contribute more are highly encouraged to do so.
Only members who contribute to this Fund are eligible for the funeral management assistance payment of RM3000.00 in the event of a death.

Payment will be made to the member's next-of-kin.

This funeral management assistance also covers the death of a contributing officer's family member (as defined under the prevailing UPM Medical Facilities Scheme for Officers and Pensioners), including a miscarried fetus aged over six (6) months, provided the management of the remains is handled in the same manner as that of an adult.

1) UPM Officer Funeral Management Assistance Trust Fund – for UPM staff who are members
2) Serdang Funeral Assistance Body – for residents of the Serdang parish and UPM staff who are members
