Sacrifice is one of the circumcision rituals that is required to be performed by those who are able and have sufficient wealth, whether on their own or under their care.
Although the law is circumcision, the majority say that it is a practice that is required to be done. We see this worship as a symbolic act to remember the event of Prophet Ibrahim who sacrificed his son, Prophet Ismail.
It is one of the proofs of love and obedience to Allah SWT. Because of that, there is a hadith which says that the best act of worship to perform on Eid al-Adha is to shed the blood of a sacrifice.
It is also prescribed as a sign of gratitude to Allah for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us. By making sacrifices, it can help cleanse the negligence in our hearts and continue to be grateful for what we have.
Every one of us who sacrifices, Allah will accept it even with the smallest things. This can be seen through a hadith narrated by Zaid bin Arqam, it was said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him);
Meaning: “What is a sacrifice?” He said: “It is the Sunnah of your father, Prophet Ibrahim.” He asked again: “What is the benefit for us in it, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “Every hair is a reward.” He said: “What about its fur?” He said: “Every hair from its fur is a reward.” (Hadith narrated by Al-Baihaqi, no. 19489)
Therefore, we can understand here that it is a practice that provides many advantages, especially in terms of helping our hearts to always be close to Him and to gain many rewards.
By Allah, the Almighty.
