When we study the science of hadith, the name of Imam Bukhari is certainly no stranger to this field because he is one of the figures who has narrated many authentic hadiths.

His real name is Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Imail ibn Ibrahim ibn al-Mughirah ibn Bardizbah.

He is known as al-Bukhari because of the title of his birthplace, Bukhara, which is a city in Uzbekistan.

According to records, he was born on 13 Shawwal 194 AH in Bukhara. His father died when he was still young.

He began memorizing hadiths when he was less than 10 years old. By the time he was 16, he had successfully memorized several books written by scholars such as Ibn Mubarak.

Then, in order to gain authentic knowledge and blessings from it, he was willing to migrate to Mecca.

He also traveled several times to Medina, Baghdad and Syria to seek knowledge.

Thanks to his persistence, he has managed to write several books that discuss authentic and weak hadith narrators, and so on.

He has also studied with more than 1000 sheikhs and has collected 600,000 hadiths.

Among his teachers were Ali bin al-Madini, Ahmad bin Hanbal, Yahya bin Ma'in and Ishah bin Rahawaih.

Meanwhile, among the popular works he successfully wrote is al-Jami' al Sahih al-Musnad al-Mukhtasar min Umur Rasulillah SAW wa Sunanihi wa Ayyamihi or better known as Sahih Al-Bukhari.

This work was given a very special name by him himself because this book was inspired by the wishes of his teacher, Ishak bin Rahawaih, who wanted to collect authentic hadiths in a book.

Conclusion

His deep interest in the field of hadith encouraged him to study it well and develop it in the form of writing.

The proof is that to this day we use the book Sahih Al-Bukhari as a reference to delve deeper into the field of authentic hadith.

He passed away on Friday, 1 Syawal 256 AH, at the age of 62.
