The Human Heart Is Like a Fortress
Within it lies faith, love for Allah, and the path to salvation. Yet every fortress has gates—and so does the heart. Satan, our clear enemy, constantly seeks opportunities to enter through these gates to weaken us.
Among the main gateways of Satan are uncontrolled anger, unchecked desires, envy, greed, haste, arrogance, and suspicion towards others. When anger takes over, Satan plays with us like a ball in a child’s hand. When envy and greed dominate, the heart’s vision becomes clouded and loses its light. Even overeating and laziness strengthen Satan’s weapons.
The Prophet ï·º once said:
التَّأَنّÙÙŠ Ù…ÙÙ†ÙŽ اللهÙØŒ وَالْعَجَلَة٠مÙÙ†ÙŽ الشَّيْطَانÙ
"Calmness is from Allah, while haste is from Satan." (Narrated by al-Baihaqi)
He also said:
Two hungry wolves let loose among sheep are not more destructive than a man's greed for wealth and status to his religion." (Narrated by Ahmad)
These hadiths remind us how vulnerable the heart becomes if left unguarded.

The cure is simple, but it requires effort: cleanse the heart from blameworthy traits and fill it with the remembrance of Allah (zikrullah). Just as a hungry dog will leave if there’s no food before it, Satan too will retreat if there’s no weakness to exploit.
The Qur’an is the greatest medicine—it heals doubt with clear arguments and subdues desires with reminders of the Hereafter.
Every believer must ask themselves: “Is my heart healthy, sick, or dead?”
A healthy heart shines with faith and resists temptation.
A sick heart can still be healed with zikrullah, prayer, and Qur’anic recitation.
A dead heart, filled with sin and heedlessness, can only be revived by Allah’s mercy.
Close the doors of anger, envy, and greed. Open the doors of piety, patience, and remembrance of Allah. For only a pure heart will meet Allah in peace on the Day of Judgment.
