CORRECT THE BELIEFS OF GISBH FOLLOWERS

Ikhwan Global Issues Services and Business Holdings Sdn. Bhd. or called GISBH is hotly talked about now. The question is, is this GISBH the same as Al-Arqam in the past, which was banned for all its beliefs and teachings by the Selangor State Fatwa Committee? Is the Book of Aurad Muhammadiah which was banned before still practiced by GISBH followers?.

The answer is the same. The understanding and teachings practiced by members of GISBH are the same as those practiced by the Al-Arqam group which has been fatwad as a misguided and deviant teaching from the teachings of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah.

The Selangor State Fatwa Committee Special Meeting 1st/2024 which convened on 30 September 2024 corresponding to 26 Rabiulawal 1446H discussed the understanding, teachings, beliefs or practices of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (GISBH) and its network and the meeting decided; The understanding, teachings, beliefs or practices of leaders, followers, workers or members of GISBH and its network have elements that deviate from the true teachings of Islam according to the beliefs of Ahli Sunnah Waljamaah.

Al-Arqam is a teaching group established by Ashaari Muhammad in 1968. After the banning of Al-Arqam in 1994, some former members of the group established Rufaqa' Co, GISB and GISBH as a large business company. They operate a wide variety of businesses, including restaurants, lodging, retail businesses, and social services under this brand.

Muhammad's Ashaari influence is still strong in this group even after its ban. Ashaari Muhammad who died in 2010 continues to be respected by his followers and his influence is evident in the Brotherhood's Global business and social structure.

The Global Brotherhood case illustrates how an organization once banned for heresy can continue to influence society through business and social activities. Although it no longer openly propagates the same teachings, the influence and values founded by Al-Arqam are still seen in the operations and structure of this organization.

His Majesty the Sultan of Selangor, as the State Head of Islamic Religion, has approved a fatwa banning the beliefs and teachings of the al-Arqam organization before. The prohibition of all beliefs and teachings has been decided by the Selangor State Fatwa Committee through fatwas published on 4 February 1993, 11 August 1994 and 21 December 2006 and the most recent fatwa related to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (GISBH) was approved by His Majesty the Sultan of Selangor on 3 October 2024 and has been gazetted on 16 October 2024.

When this fatwa is gazetted, it is binding and it is our duty for every Muslim in the state of Selangor to obey and adhere to this fatwa. Any fatwa that is disobeyed or insulted can be taken legal action.

This is how Islam remains preserved and controlled in this country and is able to contain rampant heresy. Therefore, we as Muslims in this country who love Islam and love this country, must strictly obey every teaching of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah and fatwas that have been set.

Obey the Head of Islamic State who works with the teachings of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah. Leave the teachings and understanding of al-Arqam and any other teachings that have similarities with al-Arqam. Stay away from the GISBH group because their beliefs and teachings have deviated from the true Islamic creed and even confuse Muslims.

What is the deviation? Deviating in the form of excessive worship of leaders, deviating in the practice of polygamy, deviating from the existence of elements of shirk from the original teachings of Al-Arqam, deviating from believing in the resurrection of al-Arqam leaders who have died, and deviating from believing in the resurrection of Imam Mahdi who is associated with Al-Arqam.

First Deviation: Belief in the resurrection of al-Arqam leaders who have died such as As-Suhaimi died in appearance only, instead he was unseen and reborn as Imam Mahdi.

In the Qur'an it has been explained that those who have died leave us, their souls will not return to the world again except by the will of Allah SWT. Whether it is to return to visit his family members, to take revenge or from all kinds of actions by other human beings who are still alive. Whether the spirit is in a good or bad state. This is based on the words of Allah SWT in surah al-Mukminun verse 100:

"So that I do righteous deeds in the things that I have left". No! Can you cook? Indeed, his words are only words that he alone said, while in front of them is the world of barzakh (in which they remain) until the day they are resurrected (on the Day of Resurrection)."

Imam Al-Tabari narrates the history of Mujahid which mentions that the barzakh in the verse above is a hijab (like a barrier wall) between people who have died to return to the world.

While related to al-Mahdi and his appearance. Referring to a sahih hadith explains that al-Mahdi will come out at the end of time and there is no doubt that he will dominate the entire Arab nation and will fill the earth with justice and equity.

From Abdullah bin Mas'ud Radhiallahuanhu he said that the Prophet SAW said which means:

"If there is nothing left of that world but only one day, then God will extend that day until He sends a man on that day, which man is from among me, or from my members of the temple. His name coincides with my name and his father's name coincides with my father's name. He will fill the earth with full justice and equity as it (the earth) was once filled with darkness and tyranny."

(Narrated by Abu Daud).

The second deviation: The fanaticism and worship of the Ashaari Muhammad Leadership that the Ashaari Muhammad has extraordinary spiritual powers, and there are claims that they believe Sheikh Muhammad al-Suhaimi will return as Imam Mahdi.

Bigotry and worship of leaders is not allowed in Islamic teachings and can lead to disbelief. On the contrary, it is a form of leadership obedience only. This is because obedience to the leader is obligatory and becomes a requirement in the Sharia as in the words of Allah SWT in Surah al-Nisa' verse 59:

"O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger of Allah and the "Ulil-Amri" (those in authority) from among you."

Islam teaches to obey the leader in every good thing. This is because the leader's instructions as long as they call for the goodness and benefit of the people in general should be listened to and obeyed even if the instructions issued are not approved by the personal views of a few specific people.

Therefore, giving loyalty to the leader in every makruf matter is a duty and responsibility to the led but is not worship or fanaticism.

Hadith narrated by Ibn Umar Radhiallahuanhu that the Prophet SAW said:

It is obligatory for every Muslim to obey and obey (the leader) in what he likes and what he hates, as long as he is not commanded to commit immorality. Therefore, when he is commanded to commit an immorality, then there is no longer an obligation to obey and obey ."

(Al-Bukhari narrations).

Third Deviation: The existence of elements of superstition and polytheism from the original teachings of Al-Arqam such as Abuya's mind is God's revelation, God will tell Abuya about an illness among his followers and is believed to have predictions about the future.

Even after the group was banned and transformed into GISBH, these elements were still implicit in the beliefs and practices among its members.

In Islam, polytheism and superstition are the greatest major sins. Therefore, it is placed as the first major sin of the 76 major sins compiled by Imam al-Zahabi in his book al-Kaba'ir.

The words of Allah SWT in surah al-Nisa' verse 48:

"Indeed, Allah will not forgive the sin of shirk associating with Him (anything whatsoever), and He will forgive sins other than that for whomever He wills (according to the rules of His Sharia). And whoever associates Allah (with something else), then indeed he has committed a great sin."

Fourth Deviation: Beliefs and practices of polygamy that are not in accordance with Shariah and applicable laws. They hold seminars and campaigns to expand the practice of polygamy among their members. Although polygamy is permitted in Islam, this group's approach to the practice is often criticized as it is seen as ignoring the rights and well-being of women.

If we look at it from a jurisprudence point of view, it turns out that polygamy is originally only required by law. However, the law can change to three, namely:

The law of circumcision if the man has the need to marry another if he is married to one wife and cannot make himself afif (keep his lust from adultery and immorality), or the wife is sick, or barren and cannot conceive, while the husband wants children, in the situation where the husband has confidence to be fair between his wives. This is because there are requirements that are celebrated by Syarak such as raising children, and this is the guideline for many Companions of the Prophet SAW, the Tabi'ie and the generations after them.

The law is makruh if the man is just to enjoy himself and have fun, or doubts about his ability to be fair between his wives. This is because there is no need for it. Also because there is a possibility of harm to the wives because they are not able to be fair. Said Imam al-Khatib al-Syirbini: "And it is sunnah not to add more than one wife without an apparent need."

The law is unlawful if it is believed that a man is not capable of acting justly because of his weakness, or because of a loss of trust in himself rather than favoritism, or because of his poor condition. This is because polygamy will result in harm to others.

A hadith from Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:

"Can't cause harm and return harm with other harm." (Records of Imam Malik).

This is in accordance with the words of Allah SWT in surah al-Nisa' verse 3:

"Then if you are worried that it will not be fair (between your wives) then (marry) only one, or (use) female servants that you have. That is closer (to prevent) so that you do not commit injustice."

Lessons to be used as a guide in our lives which are:

  1. Muslims should follow Islamic teachings based on

Ahli Sunnah Wa l Jamaah's beliefs in terms of belief, Sharia and morals.

  1. Muslims should really know Ahli Sunnah Wal

The congregation is not to be confused about the group of people who confess

that they are Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah, but the fact is that they are a distorted and deviant group.

In conclusion, Muslims should be more careful by being tabayyun and research before blindly following the words religion and charity or similar by referring to the State Religious authorities.

For members of GISBH who are still out there, the government has held a Voluntary Rehabilitation Program for Global Members of Ikhwan Services And Business Holding (Gisbh).
