Make the Quran Your Friend This Ramadan

When we talk about friends, we will understand that the relationship with a friend must be very special, intimate and close. Friends will know each other about themselves, get to know each other deeply and be by each other's side.

That is what is meant when we talk about being friends with the Quran. In conjunction with the arrival of Ramadan, let us make the Quran our closest friend. Make the Quran mushaf more often held and opened than social media. Fast for a while away from the hustle and bustle of the world and turn your focus back to Allah, the One.

The glory of the Quran is that the companion of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, Abdullah bin Mas'ud, once said:

"Whoever wants to know that he loves Allah and His Messenger, then look, if he loves the Quran, then he truly loves Allah and His Messenger." (Athar sahih narrated in the book Shu'ab Al Iman, by Al Baihaqi).

See, the sign of loving Allah and the Messenger is loving the Quran. Love for the Quran is manifested when we read it often, examine the meaning of the verses we read, and practice what we know. That is the sign of love for the Quran.

There may be some who are hesitant to read the Quran because their reading is not fluent, and the tajweed and makhraj are difficult to learn and master. But that's okay, because according to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), even those who read the Quran with difficulty will receive two rewards, namely the reward of reading and also the reward for their effort and sincerity.

To start loving the Quran, you don't need to read several chapters in one day (if you can, please do), but start with easy steps that can be continued over a long period of time. For example, you can read one page a day along with its translation, or you can also learn about one reason for the revelation of a Quranic verse or the story behind it. Another effort that can be done is to learn one type of tajwid rule every week.

There is nothing wrong with starting to get closer to 'friends' who have been apart for a long time in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan. Hopefully, in the afterlife, these friends will recognize us again and testify to God that we have truly taken advantage of them.
