We often think we are better than others.
We are quick to judge the sins of others but skillful in concealing our own.
We talk about forgiveness, yet rarely do we truly forgive those who err in ways different from ours.
The truth is simple, though bitter to accept — we are all sinners by choice.
We choose which sins to hide and which ones to forgive.
We see the faults of others as heavier, while forgetting that our own sins still await Allah’s forgiveness.
We classify sins into “big” and “small,” as if such labels give us the right to feel purer than others.
But Allah does not measure sins that way.
He does not count who has sinned more or less — He looks at the heart.
He looks to see whether the heart still regrets, still feels shame before Him, still knocks on the door of repentance with sincere tears.
The Prophet ï·º said:
ÙƒÙلّ٠بَنÙÙŠ آدَمَ خَطَّاءٌ وَخَيْر٠الْخَطَّائÙينَ التَّوَّابÙونَ
"Every son of Adam commits sins, and the best of sinners are those who repent."
(Hadith narrated by Tirmidhi)
We are all broken in different ways.
Some fall in silence, while others fall in the sight of people.
The difference lies not in the sin, but in the humility that follows it.
Not everyone who falls is far from Allah — sometimes, the one who falls the most is the one closest to Him, because they know the way back.
The true danger is not the sin itself, but the comfort found within sin.
When we begin to think that our sins are small and others’ sins are great — that is when arrogance replaces repentance, and the heart slowly dies without realizing it.
If only we knew how vast Allah’s mercy is, we would stop comparing who is worse.
We would be too busy seeking His forgiveness.
Because yes, we all sin —
only differing in which sins we choose to reveal and which we choose to hide.
